Abrar murder: BUET students demand on 7-point
The Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) on Tuesday announced 7-point demand, including arrest of all accused in Abrar Fahad murder case and their highest punishment.
Agitated students brought out a procession around 10:30am.
Their other demands include expulsion of all identified killers from the university for life within 72 hours, trial of the case under Speedy Trial Tribunal, appearance of Buet Vice Chancellor before students within 5 pm today, expulsion of raggers who mentally and physically torture students for differences of opinions.
Protesters alleged that activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) are involved in the murder of Abrar.
Abrar was allegedly beaten to death inside Sher-E-Bangla Hall of the institution early Monday.
According to the general BUET students, the hall unit Chhatra League members allegedly beat Abrar to death inside the dorm over a Facebook post.
The BCL members called the victim to room no 2011 around 8 pm on Sunday for posting a status on Facebook. Later, he was found dead on the stairs around 2:30 am.
The news of Abrar's death sparked a widespread agitation among the general students of the institution. Students have brought out several processions inside the campus, seeking justice.
During the demonstration, they chanted slogans against the BCL members and demanded exemplary punishments of the involved BCL men.
They have took position outside the office of the hall provost around 12 noon.
The protesting students said they will continue their agitation until Abrar gets justice.
