Only President and PM are VVIPs: HC
The government officials are merely servants of the republic and they are not very very important person (VVIP), the High Court observed today.
Only the president and prime minister of the country are the VVIP (very very important person) and security issues are involved with regard to their movements, said the HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader during hearing a writ petition filed in connection with death of Titash Ghosh.
Following the petition, the HC bench issued a rule asking the authorities concerned of the government to explain in four weeks why they should not be directed to give Tk 3 crore as compensation to the family of Titash Ghosh, who died in an ambulance on a ferry on the way to Dhaka .
On July 25, Titas Ghosh, a sixth grader and son of Tapas Ghosh from Narail, died from brain haemorrhage in an ambulance as the authority delayed the departure of a ferry at Khathalbari jetty in Madaripur for three hours for a joint secretary.
At the hearing, the court said ambulance and fire service vehicles would have to be allowed to move on priority basis. All will have to be cautious in future to avoid such accident (death of student Titas).
Later, the court directed the Public Administration Secretary to investigate the death of schoolboy Titas
The secretary was also asked to appoint an additional secretary for the inquiry and submit the report before it in three weeks.
